We've Added Sagamore Hill to Our Trail System!
Carol Catalano
We are excited to announce our recently granted permission to provide groomed skiing in the Essex County Greenbelt Association’s Sagamore Hill Conservation Area! Due to a recent $5.1 million fundraising effort by ECGA, the preexisting John J. Donovan Reservation and Sagamore Hill trail system were combined with six adjacent privately owned conservation easements, creating a nearly 1000-acre area of permanently protected open space. Also new for the season is a parking area, currently under construction, allowing convenient access to the trail system.
The reservation’s hilly terrain provides challenging and exciting nordic ski possibilities, with a combination of wide open fields and wooded terrain. For those up to the challenge, the rocks at the very top of the hill allow skiers to view the Great Marsh, Essex River, and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. We can't wait to see you out on the new trails!
